In order to get your degree at my school, you have to notify the university that you have enough/all the required credits completed. For our, and their convenience, we fill out an online application so they know who needs a diploma. I think they may also check that you completed everything.
I'm predicting some hiccups in my future. One of my excess art classes need to be applied as an 'intro art' credit but the university doesn't believe anything that isn't in the computer. Ah, paperwork.
