Full Moon is going to be July 7th, it seems I'm going to see it in the low Southern sky. It's nice that my computer window faces South, a shame that the trees are in the way though. I need some advil.
Psst, Steph! This has nothing to do with your post, but: I'm going to Japan with a friend in late July, and I was thinking of seeing a Takurazuka show. Do you have any idea of how/where I could look online to find tickets for that kind of thing? (I would look on J-websites, but the computer I'm using currently isn't Japanese enabled.)
Oh hoho! How exciting! From what I've read the fan club members for each Takarazuka star will buy the 'better' seats in advance but you can still find tickets on Yahoo Japan auctions and I also believe you can also buy tickets at the ticket booth the day of the show. I'm going to give you some links to help you out b/c a) I'm not absolutely sure how to obtain tickets since I've never had to and b) people from the US have done it before so their example and advice is best!
First off here is the Performance Schedule for the theatres (they have more than one). http://www.takarazuka-revue.info/tiki-index.php?page=Performances2009 If you can I would say try and get tickets for Elisabeth, it was originally a German musical and has been performed by the various Takarazuka troupes for the past 13 years. From the few shows I have seen this one is fantastic and I believe a great one to get you used to the Takarazuka experience!
Ok, here's a link to the wiki again with information on how to get tickets. http://www.takarazuka-revue.info/tiki-index.php?page=Information%3A+Going+to+See+a+Show The website is also great detailing the behavior of the fans and some the history. When you start looking into Takarazuka there are some weird rituals. lol.
And finally I'm going to send you off to the Takarazuka LJ community. That's where you'll be able to ask more specific questions and from what I've seen they are very nice helping people out! http://community.livejournal.com/takarazuka/profile
Hope this helps! If you go make sure to tell me all about it!!
Thaaaank you. <3 It is exciting! From the little research that I've done, it seems like the really popular shows (like Elisabeth and Rose of Versailles) are sold out any time from an hour to a day after the tickets start to be sold. Which is slightly daunting. Still, I looked up the Performance Schedule for the theatres, and it looks like these are the shows they're going to be playing while we're there: Elisabeth, Russian Blue (Malleus Maleficarum), and Ooeyama Kaden. I'd love to see the first, and although I don't know anything about the other two shows, I'm curious about them as well. I thought that Rose of Versailles was showing during the same time too, but then I saw that it was for next month. XD
Thanks for the links again! I'm going to do some more research and plan all of this out, since I've always wanted to see a Takurazuka show in person. Plus my friend wants to see a tsukkomi/boke comedy routine while we're in Osaka, so that should be interesting too.
