Had this idea floating around in my head for a while. 



Seems like Merlin has a slight problem ...

And because I can't leave things alone, here's a darken up version.



I'm torn.  On one hand I like the original paper color and lines, but the darkness in the second is just so darn powerful.
Do you guys like one over the other?

I like both too. They each have their good qualities. I agree that the second one is more powerful and striking because of the darkness -- especially with the contrast of the white paper and dark shading. But I think I prefer the soft tone of the first piece. It depends on what you want to portray - the intenseness of the moment in the second picture or the more subdued nature of the first piece...like it's a bit of a twisted, quiet secret. Poor Merlin. :(

Now I'm tempted to write a "Merlin dealing with his evil twin" fic...oh the possibilities. ;)

It's always nice to have variations to compare. Everyone has different preferences after all.

I wrote a story last summer, Allegiance to Camelot, that had a storyline dealing with the frustration that a copy of Merlin felt at being separated from his original. And I thought after seeing your pictures, that the copy of Merlin could be the evil twin. He feels a closeness to his original that could grow into something darker and unpleasant (i.e. stalkerish tendencies). I had been considering exploring that further in a sequel - it's just a matter of how dark I'd be okay with taking it. ;)
