Reni Hakkenden on the way

Went out with my mom today.
It started as a mission to collect a CD from Borders but we ended up first going to a pizza shop (we got 3 pies to go), drug store, wine shop, fabric store, Borders, and finally Staples. The stop to JoAnn's was unplanned but it just so happened that I picked up two patterns and two brocades (ON SALE!!) that will be going towards Reni's Shin Hakkenden costume in this pic ...
(In case you don't know, it's the light blue one)
Heh, I look at the patterns and I keep telling myself
"You're a cosplayer, about time you picked up a kimono pattern."
Anywoo the pattern I found for the pants are PERFECT. It's incredible, I have to thank my mom for noticing them in the Simplicity catalog.
As far as a battle plan goes, I will be working on this as I remember the fabrics that go in this costume. Since I wasn't expecting to go to a fabric store, I was quite pleased I remembered what patterns I needed let alone the fabrics. My mom was trying to get me to get pant fabric, but no dice. At least I picked up two brocades that would go on as decoration on the kimono top (the light blue fabric that is in petals, and one of the sleeve stripes ... if that makes sense)
Wish me luck, I'm excited to complete it!!

Date: 2007-08-15 03:49 am (UTC)It's so hard finding reference pics from the DVD, so I rely on Japanese cosplayers (since I have yet to see a Reni Hakkenden cosplayer here). They actually helped me figure out what fabrics that were needed.
I shall take your luck, along with time, to complete this outfit beautifully.
