Part of me is applauding this man (because, well, he's got more balls than guys with balls), and the other part of me is regretting that I will never be able to unsee those pictures.

It's quite a statement. Seeing the pictures actually didn't bother me. I think I was more disappointed that the plate presentation was lacking. For such an expensive and important meal you would think there would be more care taken to make it an aesthetically pleasing dish.

Actually, I agree. I wish he'd served it full and carved it table-side, maybe stuffed it with something? idk. seems sloppy presentation for something so epic.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this. If he wasn't going to do table side carving, the least he could do was make sure there were complimenting side dishes. Eating animal penises and testes isn't so uncommon, I'm sure he could have used one of those recipes as inspiration. What a waste.

Just be careful in the comment sections of the post. Far too many RL trolls lurk there. Also, a lot of these articles don't have much research to back them up so take them with a grain of salt!

I believe it. I try not to feed trolls, which is why I do my best to lurk within the pixels of the internet. The first thing I thought when I saw that was... "B-but what about the degenerative madness that goes in hand with cannibalism?!"

The pictures weren't really that bad. It looked a lot like stuffed pork or beef.

Me neither. I read the article, but really really could not bring myself to look.

I cannot believe that he got someone to perform the surgery.

If there was no context about where the food came from, you'd have no problem looking at the meal. But I can understand.

I wonder what the regulations are in Japan about these sorts of things. But it looks like it's far more relaxed than in Western countries.

Ok. I'd rather skip it.

Apparently it must be far more relaxed for someone to be able to have that surgery at 22. I doubt it would be possible here. At least not right now.

I'm actually kinda grateful he managed to get a surgery to do this for him. From the sound of it, I wouldn't be surprised if he attempted to take care of it himself if he had to.

Yikes. Got to give the guy props though.

The pics aren't that bad (even the one pre-cooked). Probably because I've spent too long on the photography section of snopes and googling things I probably shouldn't. Stupid train-wreck syndrome.

The pics looked like food to me and the baggy one wasn't at all gross. I would like to actually see the shapes, it just looked like a mashup of flesh and blood.
Would I eat it, no. That's because I just don't care for penis or testicle of any animal. I think people just get freaked out because it's from a human. But I'm pretty sure if you showed the pics to someone who didn't know the context, it wouldn't trigger.

Yeah. Strangely enough, I'm not grossed out by it... probably because it was something he WILLINGLY chose to do.

I'm with you.

Out of context, the food looks like food. A part from the body I wouldn't eat even if it was from an animal, but food none the less. I think the 'gross part' is when people know it's human. I guess it depends on how you think and react to strange things (maybe even your morals?) which probably shape the extreme reactions.

Yeah, the human aspect is why I'm not grossed out by it specifically because it was something he 'willingly' did. If I knew there were humans somewhere being tortured and castrated for their male bits without their consent, THEN I would be grossed out.

It's weird how the human mind works. Somehow, I am not grossed out or offended by animals that are slaughtered for food, but my opinion on humans and food is very delicate...

And that in my opinion is the plot of a freakishly great book.
